BJP demands flawless security measures for North East people

ITANAGAR, Aug 18: Expressing serious concern over the mass exodus of North East people from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other states Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded the Centre to take stringent measures to ensure safety and security of people from north eastern region residing in other parts of the country. Addressing the media persons at BJP party headquarters here today, BJP national general secretary Tapir Gao said the Central Govt must take the issue seriously and chalk out corrective measures to stop discrimination against the people of  North East.

Informing that the BJP has already taken the mass exodus of NE people from other states of the country seriously, Gao said “if the Centre  fails to take immediate action to tackle the situation and protect the NE people,  the entire people of the region will stand united against the divisive forces."

Eight people from the NE were assaulted in Pune, while two Manipuri girls met the same fate in Bangalore, Gao claimed while informing that BJP led Karnataka government has taken steps to protect the life and properties of NE people. He further appealed to the NE students to have faith on the Karnataka Govt and to return to campus and focus on their academic activities.

Gao said all the BJP ruled states have been directed by party high command to ensure full safety and security especially to the North-East people and the members of frontal wings of the  BJP like RSS have already swung into action to ensure  safety and security of NE people.

He further informed that BJP’s Sampark cell for NE people has been activated to help out anyone who is in distress, and urged the parents residing in the far-flung areas to get in touch with Sampark Cell chief Sunil Deodar (M Nos. 099710-06644/093132-92915) for any kind of queries related to the issue. Blaming the illegal immigrants for spreading rumors with wrong message to create disharmony among the people of the country,  the National BJP general secretary said, anti-social elements are trying to take advantage of the law and order problems in Congress ruled state of Assam.

Illegal immigrants are a major threat not only to the northeast but to the entire country, Gao said while blaming the Congress party for protecting them for its vote bank politics.

The party's north east organisational in-charge P Chandrasekhar Rao said the exodus was a repercussion of the recent communal violence in Assam. The exodus from Hyderabad and other parts of the country was engineered by fundamentalists to  create job opportunity for  illegal migrants, he alleged.

Gao also urged the Centre to strengthen the security apparatus along Indo-Bangla border to thwart infiltration of illegal migrants.

Meanwhile, BJP decided to organise 'Assam Bachao-NE Bachao-Desh Bachao' rallies in different parts of the country from August 23 to August 28 against illegal migrants, Gao informed.

Expressing concern over the present law and order situation in the state, BJP further urged the state Govt to immediately arrest the attacker of Arunachal Times Associate Editor Tongam Rina on July 15 last. While condemning the attack, the BJP rued that after 30 days of the attack, the authorities fail to trace out the attacker/s.

While referring to a news report regarding HC order for CBI probe into alleged irregularities committed by a compensation board  in assessment of properties of the Trans Arunachal Highway affected people, Gao said, the people should take it as an example on how corruption  takes place in the state. In Arunachal Pradesh democracy has turned into lootacracy, Gao said adding there is no work culture in the state.

Among others, state BJP president, Dr Tangor Tapok, BJP legislature party leader Tamiyo Taga were present in the press meet.

If the trend continues, the indigenous people of North East region would be outnumbered by illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, the AVP president warned. Describing it a national problem, the AVP president said that whatever has happened in Lower Assam was a struggle for existence of the people in their own homeland. Indian Muslim brethren have to understand this problem and take their stand as true nationalist Muslims.

The AVP president claimed that 95 percent of the people in those cities are friendly and kind towards the people of North East. The state governments and many social organizations are keen to ensure the safety and security of the people of North East, he said and appealed to the panic stricken youngsters to return to their respective place of study and jobs in those cities as soon as normalcy returns.
